Our research spectrum
Our research spectrum is broad, but there are three areas with concentrations of research activity. These are:
- Thermal performance and preferences in buildings, including the architectural implications of thermal design.
- Computer-aided architectural and urban design, with an emphasis on computational design and its application to architectural and urban design and to other areas of industry.
- Cross-Cultural Studies in Asian and Middle Eastern Architecture, through the work of the Centre for Asian and Middle Eastern Architecture (CAMEA).
Recent publications and other research output information can be found on the Research Output Page.
Go to the Staff listing or Research Student listing for information about our researchers.
The School has a strong preference for enrolling higher degree candidates who propose to undertake research in these fields but may also consider enrolling students in other fields of architecture and landscape architecture.
Prospective candidates should discuss their proposed area of research with either the Dean of the School of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design or the Postgraduate Co-ordinator to ensure that the topic comes within the ambit of the areas of expertise of available staff within the School.
