Field TripsSite Visit / Field Trip Policy and ProceduresStudents must submit Field trip forms to ms Alison Bosnakis or Ms Nicole Bailey in the Front Office (level 5 Architecture Building) no less than 2 hours before the departure. Payments are made to the Front Office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10am and 3pm unless students are otherwise directed. The University of Adelaide has an obligation under State Occupational Health & Safety legislation (see also Section 1 Occupational Health and Safety) to ensure so far as is reasonably predictable that all students and staff while at work (including study) are safe from injury and risks to health. School staff cannot ‘sign away’ the obligations of their duty of care. This policy relates to teaching and research activity involving University staff and students, which incorporates travel to and from a destination off campus. Field activities vary in their nature and duration, and are difficult to categorise. Some of the most commonly used names for University field activity are:
* The policy does not apply to work experience programs carried out on facilities that are not owned or managed by the University. In the School of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design this would include all site visits, meetings off-campus, study trips, and field activities e.g. surveying. Briefly the document states: the Head and Chair of School is responsible for the management of health and safety in all School matters, and must ensure that for any field activity organised by the School, consideration is given to provisions for health and safety.
Students will be issued with a Field Activity Information Notice.
